Video Details

The discussion focuses on executing a specific movement known as the slide vault in gymnastics or parkour. The technique involves landing on one leg while positioning the other leg appropriately to facilitate a quick transition into another vault. The emphasis is on synchronization and timing, particularly how to land the left leg on one side and then use it to initiate another move with the right lead. The speaker suggests practicing this sequence continuously to enhance fluidity and confidence in executing the maneuver.

Moreover, the importance of hand placement during the vault is highlighted. The hands play a crucial role in maintaining balance and control, especially when transitioning between movements. The technique requires switching hand positions in a way that helps generate momentum for subsequent actions. This emphasis on the upper body support allows for better stability throughout the movement, ensuring that the athlete can effectively manage the physical dynamics of the vault.

Finally, practicing the slide vault in pairs is recommended as a method to grasp the flow of the movement. It not only aids in building the necessary skills but also enhances the enjoyment of performing the vaults. Engaging in consecutive movements helps in understanding the coordination of feet and hands, making the overall execution more natural and dynamic, which adds to the thrill of incorporating these techniques into a routine.

Key Points:

  1. The slide vault requires proper leg positioning and timing for effective transitions.
  2. Hand placement is critical for maintaining balance and generating momentum during the movement.
  3. Practicing consecutive vaults enhances skill development and enjoyment in executing the technique.

The Lesson

Perform two slide-vaults on the same hip-height wall with a maximum of three steps on the ground between the two.

You must keep momentum going and there must not be any pausing or stopping. Minimal fluctuations in speed.

This is the same as standard level-4 slide-vault, but joining multiple together in a flow.

The second vault can be on thee same side or switching to use the opposite hand and foot.

You must perform both movements three times and then do the complete opposite another three times. You should demonstrate a total of 12 vaults (6 on the left, 6 on the right).

Vault um that you land on the outside
10.96
leg so in this position my left leg is
14.639
going to go over my left leg is going to
17.08
land let's try and do two in a row now
20.16
so because my left leg is landing on the
22.56
other side I can then straight away go
26
into another side Vault back with my
28.72
right leg lead
31.199
let's let me show you so from here same
33.48
thing everything's the same landing on
35.36
the one foot we're just not stepping
37.96
forwards over and then come back again
41.879
okay the the second foot is just you can
45.079
tap it back but really you don't need to
48.12
do anything it's just pretty much
50.16
staying in the air and then swinging
52.12
forward again um let me start on that
56
side so you can see the coming back at
60.039
action so from here over leg stays off
66.479
and you go back again okay so this would
68.799
be the two in a
70.64
row there and there now the hands are
76.6
super important because they're keeping
80.159
you next to the wall and the the change
83.64
between the hands behind your back is
86.64
effectively allowing you to pull back
88.64
again so from here over I've switched
92.439
hands this is now GNA pull back so I can
96.84
gather
98.24
momentum back to this side again so
101.72
practice two in a row is uh a good way
105.32
of getting the slide vault in just one
108.96
swing and understanding what foot has to
111.92
be where uh yeah and it's really fun for
114.799
flow and putting into a route

as we've been talking with the slide

2
00:00:07,000 --> 00:00:14,000
Vault um that you land on the outside

3
00:00:10,000 --> 00:00:16,000
leg so in this position my left leg is

4
00:00:14,000 --> 00:00:19,000
going to go over my left leg is going to

5
00:00:17,000 --> 00:00:22,000
land let's try and do two in a row now

6
00:00:20,000 --> 00:00:25,000
so because my left leg is landing on the

7
00:00:22,000 --> 00:00:28,000
other side I can then straight away go

8
00:00:26,000 --> 00:00:31,000
into another side Vault back with my

9
00:00:28,000 --> 00:00:32,000
right leg lead

10
00:00:31,000 --> 00:00:35,000
let's let me show you so from here same

11
00:00:33,000 --> 00:00:37,000
thing everything's the same landing on

12
00:00:35,000 --> 00:00:41,000
the one foot we're just not stepping

13
00:00:37,000 --> 00:00:44,000
forwards over and then come back again

14
00:00:41,000 --> 00:00:47,000
okay the the second foot is just you can

15
00:00:45,000 --> 00:00:50,000
tap it back but really you don't need to

16
00:00:48,000 --> 00:00:52,000
do anything it's just pretty much

17
00:00:50,000 --> 00:00:55,000
staying in the air and then swinging

18
00:00:52,000 --> 00:00:59,000
forward again um let me start on that

19
00:00:56,000 --> 00:01:06,000
side so you can see the coming back at

20
00:00:60,000 --> 00:01:08,000
action so from here over leg stays off

21
00:00:66,000 --> 00:01:10,000
and you go back again okay so this would

22
00:00:68,000 --> 00:01:15,000
be the two in a

23
00:00:70,000 --> 00:01:19,000
row there and there now the hands are

24
00:00:76,000 --> 00:01:23,000
super important because they're keeping

25
00:00:80,000 --> 00:01:26,000
you next to the wall and the the change

26
00:00:83,000 --> 00:01:28,000
between the hands behind your back is

27
00:00:86,000 --> 00:01:31,000
effectively allowing you to pull back

28
00:00:88,000 --> 00:01:36,000
again so from here over I've switched

29
00:00:92,000 --> 00:01:37,000
hands this is now GNA pull back so I can

30
00:00:96,000 --> 00:01:40,000
gather

31
00:00:98,000 --> 00:01:45,000
momentum back to this side again so

32
00:00:101,000 --> 00:01:48,000
practice two in a row is uh a good way

33
00:00:105,000 --> 00:01:51,000
of getting the slide vault in just one

34
00:00:108,000 --> 00:01:53,000
swing and understanding what foot has to

35
00:00:111,000 --> 00:01:58,000
be where uh yeah and it's really fun for

36
00:00:114,000 --> 00:01:58,000
flow and putting into a route
