Video Details

The focus of this discussion is on executing a turn vault in parkour, with a strong emphasis on precision during the landing phase. The technique begins with proper positioning—one hand raised and the other down—to facilitate a two-foot takeoff. The gymnast must execute a 180-degree turn in a tight arc, using the inside arm as momentum while aiming for a controlled landing on the opposite wall.

Key elements of the turn vault include a secure grip with the inside hand and ensuring both feet land simultaneously on the ball of the foot. Maintaining bent arms during the execution is essential for safety, as the inside hand should remain in contact throughout the movement to provide stability. The emphasis is on smooth and precise movements that contribute to a successful landing.

Ultimately, mastering the turn vault is depicted as a crucial skill within parkour. Achieving a comfortable execution of this maneuver not only enhances personal proficiency but also serves as a foundational element in the practice of parkour overall.

Key points:

  1. Precision during the landing is essential for a successful turn vault.
  2. The inside hand must remain in contact throughout the vault for safety.
  3. Mastery of the turn vault is a foundational skill in the practice of parkour.

The Lesson

As an extension of the level-5 requirements, you must now perform the same movement but now finish with both feet landing underneath the rail on a curb or line.

All other parts are the same as level-5.

Both feet must remain together on the take-off and landing.

You must land under the railing with both feet together and at the same time.

For example.

  1. Stand with the rail in front of you.
  2. Your right hand grabs the bar on top in a pronated grip facing down.
  3. Your left hand grabs in a supinated grip facing up.
  4. Jump up with both feet together over the rail to your right and turn 90 degrees as you do.
  5. pass over the railing with both of the feet together and behind you.
  6. Let go of the right hand and move it around the left hand.
  7. Grab the bar with the right hand on top in a pronated grip next to the left hand.
  8. Turn another 90 degrees to your left as you are landing.
  9. Land two-feet together facing the railing using the ball of the foot.
  10. Land underneath the railing.

Repeat three times in each direction.

The rail must be hip-height or greater.
