Sideways Swing
lesson
The Lesson
Demonstrate traversing a bar for a continuous twenty seconds using the sideways swing technique.
You can use any railing, bar, scaffolding pole, overhang, pipe, of any thickness.
If the bar is not long enough for a continuous traversal for 20 seconds, then you can turnaround while on the bar and continue going back in the opposite direction.
Repeat for both sides, going to your left and your right.
Repeat once in each direction.
Example technique traversing to the right:
- Start hanging on the bar with both hands facing the same way.
- Pull up on the bar half way so your arms are bent.
- Keeping a stable core, swing your hips left and right to create momentum.
- As you swing the hips to the right, let go of the right hand and regrip further down the bar.
- On the back-swing to the left, the left hand joins the right hand down the bar.
- Repeat.
