Lesson Level : 9
Reverse Swing Vault
lesson

The Lesson

Very similar to the swing vault in level 8, however, instead of swinging back over the wall you will keep the swing going and reverse the entire vault to finish in a side-vault back to where your started.

Perform three reverse swing-vaults on a hip-height or greater wall or rail. You must demonstrate both sides.

The swing vault starts with a side-vault that is then caught into the hands-only TicTac that finishes in another side-vault.

The simplest setup for this can be a public bike-rack with two railings.

Example:

  1. Stand to the side of two parallel walls or railings that are slightly wider than shoulder-width.
  2. The second wall can the same height or higher. The first wall will be the one to vault over.
  3. Side-vault over the first wall to your right.
  4. As you are in the air, switch your right-hand onto the second wall.
  5. Catch your body-weight off the ground and keep the momentum swinging forwards.
  6. As your legs swing in front of you, keep contracted and swing them back again behind you.
  7. When your legs are behind you, pull with the left hand and side-vault back out over the wall.
  8. Let go of the back wall with the right hand.
  9. Land on the ground with both feet facing away along the walls.
