Video Details

The technique of performing the slide vault involves developing a rhythm that focuses on the back and forward movement of the body. Once the foundational steps are established, executing multiple slide vaults becomes a matter of repetition and maintaining consistent body movement. The emphasis lies on refining one's ability to swing back and forth effectively, constructing a smooth flow in the execution of the move.

Practicing the slide vault in sets can help solidify this rhythm, as evidenced by the suggestion to try performing four consecutive vaults. The process isn't necessarily about varying techniques but rather getting comfortable with the repetition. This consistency in practice is crucial for mastering the dynamics of the movement and enhances overall performance.

Moreover, there's an understanding that the number of vaults isn't as important as establishing a rhythm that translates well into each performance. The more one engages in this practice, the more intuitive the motion becomes, allowing for greater completion of the moves with minimal hesitation. Ultimately, the foundational aspect of the slide vault rests on maintaining that cyclical rhythm of swinging back and forth.

Key Points:

  1. Mastering the slide vault requires establishing a rhythm focused on repetitive back and forward body movements.
  2. Practicing in sets aids in solidifying this rhythm and enhances performance.
  3. Success in executing the slide vault is more about consistency in movement rather than the number of repetitions.

The Lesson

Perform four slide-vaults in a row on the same hip-height or higher wall. You must land on one leg and use a plyometric to redirect back out to the second slide-vault. No more than one foot should land after each vault.

Repeat the four vaults (two left, two right) three times.

You must have momentum the entire time and there should not be any pausing or stopping.

Each vault should be redirected to angle back towards the same wall, rather than away from it.

You should be travelling down the wall in a zig-zag pattern, switching from left to right side.
